About Houston Day Trips
Houston Day Trips, without going into much boring detail, originally started out as a personal project of mine. As I began exploring and cataloging various places we have visited in and around Houston, I decided to make a website reflecting my experiences and the experiences of others. Over time, it has grown into a resource about places to see, things to do and more in the surrounding greater Houston area.
Basically, like me, you enjoy wandering, and wondering, at the hidden back ways and treasures all within a couple of hours or so of Houston. Thus the name of the site, Houston Day Trips. It is not at all uncommon for me to think, “Gee, I wonder what’s down this road?” and then find out. After all, when you see a country road called Piano Bridge Road, you simply must find out!
And speaking of the Piano Bridge Road, just a mile or so down this road is one of The Painted Churches of Texas, St. Cyril and Methodius of Dubina. From the exterior, it looks like any country church, nothing remarkable about it one way or another. But inside? Incredible!
